Looking for family information of Elizabeth. She came free to Australia on the "Indespensable" in 1808. Married William Richard Welch here in May 8 1824. Know nothing of her parents etc.

Sorry to appear thick but when you say "born Stenbug" do you mean born in - in which case where is it, or original name Stenbug. By the way her marriage on NSW bmd says his name was Welsh

Who did she travel with? If she was born 1803, she would only be age 5.
Any other hazleton passengers?

Hi, born in Stenbug is what I meant but got this info from my late Dad. Don't know anything about Stenbug or who Elizabeth came here with. She married William Richard WELCH which probably accounts for the marriage certificate.

The reference to a birthdate of "1803 or 1784" in the thread title is confusing.
On your parallel thread about William Richard Welch, the couple and their three young children were found in the 1828 census, with Elizabeth's age shown as 24.

"Stenbug" doesn't correspond to any familiar placename in Britain, so that one will take some lateral thinking I am afraid.

I have found a record of William Welch applying to the governor at Sydney for permission to marry Elizabeth Hazelton this was on the 14/04/1824. It says William Welch, Tottenham, convict and Elizabeth Hazelton Free. There is a record of William Welch being transported for life from the Essex assizes in 1818 to NSW on board the Tottenham. Is this him

I think all that is already on the other thread, Jolee.

Yes, they are the correct couple and I have now found the names of their 11 children, the last being Phoebe in 1846. Would love to know details of who she came to Aust with etc.
