Hello,
I'm searching for some relatives who moved from Scotland to Australia.
William John Geddes was born on 11th October 1903 at 22 Lennox Place, Portgordon in Scotland to John Geddes and Jessie Geddes (also her maiden name). I'm going to assume that he emigrated to Australia in the 1920s since he would have been a reasonable age then.
I'm unable to find when he died though I'm hoping someone could help me with this seeing as I have the details of his wife and daughters. I won't post the daughters names' since there is a chance they are living, but I've found that he married a woman named Ann McGilvray. The daughters initials are M and J. I believe he lived in the Melbourne area, but I'm not entirely sure.
I'd quite like to find when he married his wife, when they died and if they had more family over there.

Presumably you have already looked for his marriage to Ann in Scotland?
If you know about Ann and their daughters do you know if they were born in Scotland or Australia?
I had a very quick glance but couldn't see William or Ann's deaths here:

Thanks for providing the death details; I was sure he was living in the Melbourne area, I didn't realise he went to South Australia.
I'm assuming his daughters were born in the 1920s/1930s, obviously if they're living then their details cannot be put up, though are there any resources I could use which could help me trace their births?
Also, for the marriage, are you able to get the full date as I noticed it only had the year '1928'

Using the Adelaide Cemeteries website I think I may have found a death date for daughter, M, though I can't confirm it yet. I have her married surname (O'Reilly), and the age would match up with the birth date after the parents marriage.

Judging by how uncommon their surname is I'd say it's most definitely her mother. I also found that Anna was from Scotland too; born in the Inverness area though I believe her family were from Glasgow. Obviously the daughters were born in Australia it's just that they can't be found in the newspapers. Judging by their marriage dates we can get a rough idea of their age.
I found a death date for a female with the matching forename and married name as the daughter, even buried in the same cemetery as William and Anna but in a different section; the only problem is seems to be that the daughter, M******* A** has a middle name, but the entry just says M*******, do you think this could be the daughter? Judging by her age she'd be old enough to get married. This is the link to the cemetery website here that was previously posted:

According to this link, there is a headstone for William and family at North Road Anglican Cemetery

Not all people could afford to publish birth announcements of their children in the personal notices of the daily newspapers. According to the electoral roll, William GEDDES was a labourer and he married just before the depression of the 1930's. Possibly there wasn't money to pay for birth notices.
I can't help with the electoral listing for the MacGILLIVRAY family as the suburb of Medindie is not in my copy of the 1943 electoral roll.
If you are searching for information on TROVE, Wm MacGILLIVRAY, Member of Parliament is not your man. He died in 1975.

Hi,this is a long shot,but im looking for a Kenny Geddes from Fife Scotland.Not sure when he emigrated but would think some where in the 1950s.Kenny was a good mate of my fathers and he would be in his 80s now.My father always wondered what became of his m8 Kenny.If any one knows any thing about him i would love to hear from them.
