Title: Disaster - refreshed laptop in error
Post by: big g on Sunday 18 May 14 17:34 BST (UK)
Yesterday I intended to clear cookies and other garbage, but......instead I  'refreshed' my laptop, losing F.T.M., some emails and contacts info.

Last backup was done last June.  I know, I know, should be done regularly.

Is there any hope of recovering lost tree info????? :'( :(

I would say, try giving http://www.piriform.com/recuva a whirl to recover lost files.

Very often a file itself is not actually deleted it's just the index of where it is kept on the disk that is.

Hoping it works for you.

Try to do as little as possible on your computer until you recover the files. As Trystan says, the files are still there just hidden with no index. The next time your computer makes a new file, it writes over the space previously taken by those deleted files. So once they are written over it is a lot harder to recover the information.
