Hello
Can anyone find the birth/parents of a Charles Harper who was born around 1819 in Colkirk?
He moved about abit with a child born in 1839 in Oldbury, before eventually settling in wolverhampton if this is of any help
Thanks in advance
Joel

Did Charles remarry after the 1851 Census? The M/C will have his Fathers name/occp.
1861 Census he is born c 1813 Colkirk, still living in Wednesfield, Staffs.

I'm unsure
I thought he had died in 1858 because I couldn't find him!
I'll have a look, but I don't think he remarried
Hence the difficulty in finding the fathers name
-
I think he remarried. 1871 he is born c 1811 Raynham, Norfolk, living in Wolverhampton
-
I'm not too sure
I mean he was originally down as 1819 in colkirk, to go to 1811 in raynham
Is quite the difference
-
After having a look, it does appear that Charles remarried
But the age difference is quite confusing
Although I would like to try and find the parents w/o having to purchase the m/c
-
Yes, a few years difference but I see that all the time.
I didnt think that someone born c 1819 would have married 1834 age 15ish.

Ahh I see, I didn't realise that he would of only have been 15 at the time
It makes more sense for him to be born around 1813
Is raynham close to colkirk?

Okay thanks for you help
I'll follow some of these new leads
-
Good luck, but I cant find a Marriage to Emma.

I think the age in 1851 could be 39 rather than 32 which added to the confusion.
I looked earlier today for a Charles Harper baptised in Colkirk (the original records are on familysearch) but all I found was a Maria Harper bp.21/2/1819, dau. of William and Diana.
William Harper bc.1776 was buried at Colkirk 5/2/1845
Diana Harper bc.1772 was buried at Colkirk 11/9/1832
Looks like Charles was only 2/3 when family moved to Colkirk hence his confusion over birthplace.
William Harper married Diana Smith 29/11/1798 South Raynham, Norfolk (freereg)
Familysearch baptisms to this couple are:
Mary bp.21/5/1799 Whissonsett, Norfolk
Humphrey bp.2/11/1800 ditto (bur.12/10/1801 East Raynham per freereg)
James bp.28/6/1802 East Raynham (spelt Rainham on familysearch)
William bp.3/5/1804 ditto
Henry bp.26/10/1806 ditto
George bp.20/11/1808 ditto
Humphrey b.390/10/1810, bp.4/11/1810 ditto (per freereg)
Charles bp.10/7/1813 ditto (freereg)
Diana bp.1/5/1815 Colkirk
Maria bp.21/2/1819 ditto

Oh I see, I should learn to check to see of the transcriptions are correct really
Thank you for the information
It seems that with a quick google search that the line of William Harper's (1776-1845) line can be traced back all the way back to Tristram Harper in 1611.

Excellent work Annette.

Are you a descendant of Charles Harper born Raynham Norfolk 1813? His father William was my ggg uncle. I have found three of Charles' children - Sarah (died in infancy), William Henry and Joseph - their mother was Elizabeth Llewellyn - also 2 others Emma & Isaiah perhaps born to his second wife Emma? although I can't find a marriage for Emma & Charles
