Title: How to say THANKS
Post by: petrseaford on Sunday 11 May 14 01:48 BST (UK)
my name is peter and I have pestered you for help for a long time.

Was searching for Herbert Dexter - a member of the RFC/RAF in WW1 .

All we had was a birth certificate of his daughter and his military number 79/710/78165 -

His war records were destroyed but his name and number are in files as Herbert Dexter.

I would like to let you know that one of your members has solved our problem and infact spent many hours constructing a detailed picture of Herbert Dexter.

The way Gerry did it amazed me because I have always needed detailed proof and reference numbers but that is not so as I discovered .

Gerry just read the 1911 Census and deducted that our ancestor was in fact George Herbert Dexter and he was not a Lace Worker as shown on documents but was in fact a Ladies Mantle Cutter and had simply tweaked his occupation to be more masculine .

Gerry has even pinned down where he was born and even suggests that he may have been born in the big house.

I have thanked Gerry and posted "thanks"  on the site but my messages never remain and I wonder why.

He actually went to the trouble of producing a five page report which i would be pleased to send to anyone researching Herbert Dexter . It will save you a lot of time

kind regards

peter
