Im trying to help but a lot of records for birth/ deaths and marriages online end before the dates we are looking at.
For example NSW bmd online births finish in 1913. And we are looking for a birth around 1921.
[i only used nsw bmd as a example]

Yeah I noticed that too :(
-
Do you know any names of siblings for Valerie? Was Valerie aboriginal as well?
Just trying to think of different avenues to search.
They would have most likely married after the online cut off date as well, cause i cant find a marriage neither.
-
I dont know any of her siblings :( yeah she was aboriginal also
-
Ok thanks. Her birth might not have been registered.
Im not giving up, im still looking for anything that may help.

There are 22 SUMNER births registered at Point McLeay between 1907 and 1928.
I will pm them. Hopefully you may know the names of her brothers and sisters.

Google books....My Side of the Bridge: The Life Story of Veronica Brodie as Told to Mary-Anne Gale mention of the SUMNER family at Ruakkan [Point McLeay Mission]and the author appears to be the niece of a Dorothy SUMNER.

Hi Stacey88,
My wife is a descendant of the Rigney and Sumner Families of Raukkan (Point Mc Leay)and I have done some research on these families and know of Valerie Rachel Sumner's Ancestors.
There is a family history book on the Sumners that was available from the South Australian Museum and there is another book called Ngarrindjeri Nation genealogies of Ngarrindjeri families by Dr Doreen Kartinyeri that is helpful .
If you want I will send you what I have , just let me know .
Regards
Mr Bish

Hi
Contact Ali Highfold-Abdullah at the SA Museum if you haven't already spoken to him (see that this query is almost a year old)
SA Museum have a copy of the Raukkan Birth Register and also Norman Tindale's Genealogies. It is worth double checking both as Tindale has my g Grandfather Alf Spender as the child of George Spender and Lartelare when he was the son of James Spender and Betty Campbell according to Taplin's Birth Register at Raukkan.
Nunga way though he was their son as was raised by them when his mother died.
Hope that is of use?
Deanne
