I may be related to the Evans family of Gogoyan, Llanddewi Brefi. I think my 2x grt grandfather Jenkin Rees b Llangybi (c1814-c1882) married a Mary Evans in 1848 at Llanddewi Brefi. I believe this could have been Mary Evans (1828-1895), whose father was John Evans, (1791-1857) who was born and died at Gogoyan. Mary's sister, Diana, had a son called Jonathan Ceredig Davies, author, traveller and expert on Welsh folklore.
However, I am not 100% sure. I live a long way from Wales and can only rely on online records. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Caulfeild

Try copying the following link into google - this information about some of Jonathan Ceredig Davies' life which is on the National Library of Wales web site.
http://yba.llgc.org.uk/en/s-DAVI-CER-1859.html
For info: JCD died at Mill street, Llanddewi Brefi, Cardiganshire on 29th March 1932.

Hi,
I appreciate all the info you have sent about the Davies family, but I already have most of those details. It's Llangynllo in Ceredigion, north-west of Newcastle Emlyn.
My problem is not being able to 100% confirm my link to the Evans of Gogoyan and JCD as the only records I have to go on for a marriage between Jenkin Rees and a Mary Evans is 1848 for the Lampeter District and also banns being read in Oct and Nov 1848 at St David's Church, Llanddewi Brefi. I can't find the actual marriage record, which would give details of their fathers and professions etc. There could be more than one Mary Evans around at that time.
Thanks,
Caulfeild

Hi again, it may be to finally solve your problem that you will have to purchase the marriage certs from the GRO to ascertain whether Mary and Diana are from the same parentage?

Hi
Yes I think you're probably right. I just thought maybe someone else had the Evans in their family tree. Thanks for helping me anyway!
