Title: Finchfield
Post by: Kizzy cat on Thursday 24 April 14 19:33 BST (UK)
Does anyone know when the houses opposite Westacre School, Finchfield, Wolverhampton were built.  specifically number 40 Finchfield Hill.  Also when were Rogers's shop and the cottages (where the Nationwide building society is now)  demolished.

Regards

Kizzy

I don't know the answer but I can take an educated guess:

The neighbouring property on one side of the pair carries the date 1879 and the other side looks to be turn of the century. Unfortunately No. 40 and it's twin look to be post 1925 to me and possibly even 1940's. Hope that's some help.... I know it's always nice if you can find an older house with family connections that's still standing.

Perhaps looking in electoral rolls in wolverhampton archives may help if they have any. If you go check times on websites as their opening hours are less. Not open Fridays now for example.

Many thanks for the info, post 1925 for 40 finchfield hill would fit in with what i know, but like you thought they may be later.  I will look at the electoral rolls when i can next get to the archives.

Many thanks again
