HI
Trying to locate a birth certificate for Robert Davis AUSTIN
born 1843, Bristol, Gloucestershire
I have his parents as Robert Austin and Eliza Hucker
thanks
-
Hi
Have you got his baptism?
The reason I'm asking is that although civil registration started in 1837, the onus was on the registrar to go around his district and collect the registrations. Consequently a number weren't recorded. The law changed in 1875 and the onus was then put on the parents to register the births.
So there may not be a certificate to find.

But following them through to 1851 doesn't give me an 1843 born Robert Austin though. ???
-
Do you know when he went to NZ, and if his parents/siblings if any went with him?
-
he went to New Zealand around 1863 and have no record of siblings. He married Ellen Carter in NZ October 1863.
I don't know what ship he sailed on ....sorry
