Hi Everyone,
I am trying to trace the family of Amy Alexander who was born abt 1784 in Wychling, Kent. Amy, daughter of John Alexander and unknown, firstly married David Russell in Bobbing Kent in 1823. Upon the death of David in Feb 1844 Amy married her longtime lover Thomas Tickner. I say longtime lover as David and Amy had separated by the time their third child was bapisted (Edward born abt 1830). Amy had other children after Edward was born in which she is named as being their mother but a lot of the baptisms indicate that she and David had been separated for some years. The registers also say David was living in Lenham and was employed as a blacksmith. The census show only one David Russell in Lenham and he was married to an Elizabeth Burton: so this is not my David.
Of Amy's children I have managed to find who they married but it is Amy and her siblings that I am trying to trace. I am not sure but she may have had a brother Thomas who was born abt 1781.
If there is anyone researching Thomas Tickner (widower) and Amy Russell (widow) who married August 1844 in Newnham and can shed some light on Amy's parentage, it would be much appreciated.
Cheers!............Jenny

Hello Jenny
I have them in my tree. Thomas Tickner is my 5th great grand uncle. His brother Stedman is my 5 x grandfather. I have that Amy died in 1855 in Faversham and they had one son, Thomas. Although from what you are saying, maybe more. I have daughters Mary, Martha and Amy plus Edward and Thomas. Thomas jr is the only Tickner but he was born in 1826 when married to David. Intriguing. On the 1851 census Thomas jr is 27 and listed as Tickner but maybe he was born Russell as I have not found his birth record. Will need to research further.
Best wishes
Lynda Tickner Poyroo.

It seems Edward was in fact a Tickner.

Baptism at Wychling
1804 Jan 29 Amy d/o John and Mary ALEXANDER
This fits with the age (of 51) given on the Death Registration of Amy Tickner in 1855.
This seems to fit but, not the date of birth as given in you original posting.

If you accept the detail of Amy baptised in 1804 as being the one you are looking for, here is a likely marriage for her parents:-
Frinsted,
1788 Oct 2 John Alexander (of Hollingbourne) and Mary Bing (otp) by Licence.
The witnesses were H. Bing and Eliz. Alexander
