I had a liverpool library card a few years ago for access to the Gale/Centage Infotrack system.
I have tried to access it today for the first time in 12 months. It is stating that my number is not on their system.
Can someone tell me if it is still working and do I input the number as is shown on the card? mine is LV P********

Jan - you don`t put the LV in just the P AND NUMBERS ...ie mine is
P********
and then
**** as my 4 x password numbers
do you have 4 numbers written in your signature box ??...mine were written in by a member of staff which they obtained off the computer ..
-
Thanks, but there is nothing written, I think it was my year of birth though.
I have tried on both IE and Firefox and it comes up with "this does not subscribe to this system"
I have tried with P and p.
I am trying to get in at http://infotrac.galegroup.com/default.
I really need access too.
-
It`s definitely the capital P ...but the library should have given you a 4 digit password for you to enter when you have typed your P******** card number in
do you have 8 digits after the P ?
-
Mine is the library card number, just in case it helps, the letter has to be capital for mine.
-
I have access on two library cards and in each case I just enter the library card number. I understand the password is only required to log in to your account at the library, for reservations, renewals etc.

Yis it is 8 digits, but no number written down but it was my birthday year.
Is it best to use IE or Firefox?
-
Can someone post the link to access the site please incase I am wrong?
Many Thanks.
All this because FindMyPast has taken the print access away from thei Newspaper images! huh
-
I use firefox and go between FindMyPast and gale since the change to FindMyPast
-
I have gone onto the www.liverpool.org.uk/libraries but the site has changed so can someone help me to get to the right place please?
-
The link is here
http://liverpool.gov.uk/libraries/
However, if you haven't been into the library and used your card to borrow books etc, it has most probably expired.
Most libraries I use seem to validate my card number every 2 years or so.
-
thanks, I have managed to get on with that but can only seem to be able to get onto The Times. I am trying to get to the aberdeen papers but it says there is no access and i am sure I remember being able to get more.
Am I ding something wrong?

I think you might need membership to a Scottish library for those.
Some offer access to the Scotsman paper.
Some libraries are cutting down on their subscriptions as they cost too much.
-
Hi
I can't see the 19th Century British Newspapers (Gale Group) in the list of Reference Sites for the Liverpool libraries, your best option is to check with the library to see if they subscribe to this source.

Thanks for the help, I will contact them in the morning.
Are there any websites that give the details of libraries and what they offer?
-
Hi
Generally speaking there are restrictions on joining libraries, usually you have to live or work in the area.

You haven't updated your profile so we don't know where in the world you are, but check the library service in your area to see what they offer.

Liverpool Libraries no longer give access to Gale's newspaper collections.
