I have a William Wright as my 2nd cousin 2x removed, born Oct. 1866 in Church Gresley, Derbyshire and died Sept. 1957 in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, with no record of him every marrying, but think that this may not be the correct William.
His father I have as William Alexander Hughes Wright, born 24 Apr. 1838 in Dudley, Worcestershire and died Oct 1902 in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire. I found who I think is this William Wright, aged 23, on the 1861 England Census for Church Gresley, Derbyshire (Folio 26, Piece 1962, Page 4) lodging with a Josiah and Sarah Coldclough. I then have him back in Dudley, Worcs, on the 1871 Census, but then back in Church Gresley on the subsequent Censuses.
Can anyone tell me who his wife was as I seem to have 2 possibilities: Mary Ann Davies born 1839 in Dudley, Worcs, and Sarah ? born 1841 in Church Gresley, Derbyshire.
I hope someone can be of help and put me back on the right track if I have got the wrong people.
Many thanks.

Who is the William Wright born 1866 with in the 1871 census?
-
Unfortunately, I couldn't seem to find him on the Census for 1871. :(
-
Is this him in 1881?
RG11; Piece: 2757; Folio: 25; Page: 43
Common Side Church Gresley
William Wright 43 Pipe factory Dudley, Worcestershire
Sarah Wright 40 Ashby, Leicestershire
Johannah Wright 18 Church Gresley
William Wright 14 Church Gresley
Elizabeth Wright 10 Church Gresley
Mary J. Wright 6 Church Gresley
Fanny B. Wright 4 Church Gresley
Faith Wright 1 Church Gresley

This is strange as that family don't seem to have the rest of the children with them in 1871
RG10; Piece: 2900; Folio: 5; Page: 1
William Wright 33 Coal Miner Dudley, Worcestershire
Sarah Wright 30 Ashby, Leicestershire
Elizabeth Wright 8 Months Church Gresley

What do you think of this?
There is a marriage for a Johannah Bostock born 1863 to William Clamp in Church Gresley on 11th Feb 1884, she gives her father as WILLIAM WRIGHT
Then in the 1871 census there is this family
RG10; Piece: 2900; Folio: 5; Page: 1
Joseph Bostock 77 Gresley, Derbyshire
Fanny Bostock 76 Measham, Derbyshire
Johanna Bostock granddaughter 8 Gresley, Derbyshire
William Bostock 4 grandson Gresley, Derbyshire
So either Sarah was married before and these are her first husband's children or William and Johannah were illegitimate.

1861
RG 9; Piece: 1962; Folio: 20; Page: 34
Church Gresley
Joseph Bostock 64
Fanny Bostock 61
Joseph Bostock 22 son unmarried
Sarah Bostock 21 dau unmarried
So it does look as if that William was born William Bostock and took his stepfather's name. Hope this helps, but it may have made it even more complicated. ;D
