Can someone please lookup Thomas Frank Stocker born 1st October 1897 Willesden Brent
Death Certificate says Thomas Frank Stocker otherwise Francis Stocker???
I don't know his parents the death certificate was not helpful but know its the correct one as
I knew the daughter who is now deceased.
I am having trouble finding him on the 1901 census.
Any help would be very much appreciated to put me on the right trail.

Thank you Rosie17 and Dawnish. I thought this but with three different names Thomas 1911, Frank 1901 census then another curveball with Francis was unsure, also in Army records it comes up Thomas Frank Stocker but with father as Edward W Stocker, 120 Cambridge Road, Kilburn???? My Grandfather always known as Tom did not marry until 1967 Gladys Maude Tracey (Lay) they had 7 children named Stocker the first had no father named on Birth Certificate was Lay where as all the others had the Stocker surname. I don't know if he was married before being the reason he married late.
On the Death Certificate it has Place of birth Willesden Brent 1/10/1897.
any help is much appreciated.

Could Thomas have had a twin brother Francis Michael that may not have survived??
Just a thought or did they have separate baptismal names then?
-
who registered his death?
maybe they didn't know the name he had been given at birth or he had gone through life using a different name.
My father doesn't use his birth name and everyone is surprised when they find out what his birth name is.
-
Do you have the children's names as usually the eldest son is normally called after the grandfather do you have the marriage lines as it might tell you a bit more :) :)

His youngest daughter registered his death she is also deceased now.
I have looked up the Death register and it has two records on the page same death year and birth year same district of Hendon one is for Francis and the other Thomas Frank the volume 13 and page number 0758 are the same I have the certificate for Thomas.
Do they normally do this when someone is known by different name or does it have to be done
by deed poll name change?

Thomas (francis) had 5 girls and 3 boys one of the boys was also named Thomas. His father if
it was William who married Elizabeth the name was not carried on to next generation, William Paul Stocker had a son William.
Thomas has a record of father Edward W Stocker on his Army records address 120 Cambridge Rd
I am so confused what a mixed up family, I want to make sure I am ordering the right
family records
Thanks Rosie

Apparently you can call yourself what you like providing it is not for fraudulent purposes, you do not have to change your name by deed poll. The GRO do index these examples separately as you have found.

If 2 names are recorded on the death cert as has happened here, there will be 2 entries in the death index reflecting each name, but there will only be one death certificate.
