Is it possible to scan it at a higher resolutioin? Maybe scan it at at least 300 dpi or higher.

Thank you for your very quick reply. I'm afraid the photo is one that I downloaded from someone else's tree on Ancestry. I'll see if they can re scan it as per your request.

If she is a relative why not contact the tree owner and ask for a better image and explain that you intend to have the photo repaired.

It would definitetly restore better if scanned at a higher resolution. This is the best I can do for now

Dear Treetotal & Thrishanne, Thank you both very much. I've recently heard back from the person whose tree I found this lovely old photo on. Unfortunately he/she only has a downloaded version also so I am unable to supply a better copy. Thank you Trishanne for your efforts. What you've done has cleaned it up quite a bit for which I am most grateful.
