Cheers James.

Grandad James
Sorry, I was away on holiday when this message came through
Thats why I have just found it unanswered on the Sussex Boards
Hope I have made amends since with Borer and Boorer Information

Hi Chris,
You sure have. The gravestone details are of immense value as this family were BOORER in the 1881 and I would not have in all certainty made the connection. I tend to check all spellings but it is nice to know they are suspects for a name variation.. That makes about 25 family groups, that have done it without any help from transcriber's errors.
As you appreciate with a one name ,I already have a great deal of information and I do not want anyone just looking, but I will not be slow in coming forward with more precise requests. :D
Thanks
Grandad james.

Hi Grandad James
Whilst searching through the 1841 census of Rotherfield for some other names - I found this:
HO107/ 1117/ Sched 36/ Page 14 - Boars Head Inn, Rotherfield
BOARER Moses, 50, Publican
Mary, 50
Matilda, 20
All born in County
Looking at the enumerators return - cant really make my mind up whether it is BOARER or BOORER
Hope it is another one for your One Name Study

Hi Chris,
There were several Moses all of that era and the information regarding the address and his wife and dau will be a definate help to seperate them.
I suspect he is the ancestor of a couple of lads that went out to Australia to the goldfields.
They will always get a good home here.
and I think it was probably BOARER as my suspects children were Boarer and Boorer.
Still looking for things heraldic but having trouble with the transport.

Hello, I dont know if you heard but James Ellis sadly died a while ago and I have registered for the one name Boorer and variants study at the request of his widow. Ive been trying to reconstruct the trees that people kindly have let me have details of. I can tell you more offline about what happened go to the ONS and you will see you can email me from there if you wish. Thanks

Hi there
My family line includes the 18th century BOWRAHs of Lingfield and East Grinstead. I believe the two names (Bowrah & Boorer) to be from the same origins. I think you will find that there is already a one name study under the Bowrah name.

Thanks for your message. I was in touch years ago with the other person doing the Bowra one he didnt find any connection with the other variants at that time. So I am doing my best to try carrying on the work of the late James and have much information and some trees from previous contacts with him and would welcome any more with the same interests. My own connection is with one of the Lingfield trees there are at least 4 separate families there with the name so far unconnected.

Can any one tell me if they have information on a Matilda Boarer of the Boars head Rotherfield, She apparently committed suicide !!
-
I have not heard what happened to Matilda Boarer except I found a marriage in 1842 21st September to a Thomas Boarer both are shown as having their fathers named Moses and both 22 years of age. I have no other details of later events. Sometime you can find details on A2a about individuals but I didnt find anything on her.
There appears to be no MI either that I am aware of but is of others in that area. No details of her death on free BMD were found.
-
thanks for your reply I have a copy of her Matilda's marriage certificate and her father inlaws (Moses) Inquest report but have only just heard of the suicide ??
-
Thanks for reply. I found out quite a bit about the Boarer name spelt l that way
on the Sussexweald site. Several families are shown on there. I wonder if there is a report in a Sussex newpaper about the suicide? Are you related to that particular line?
Im trying to do treelines of many of the various variants following on from the late James Ellis work and to date have around 25 or so lines in the making.
-
Hi Again
Moses was my Great Great great Grandfather rose my great grand mother was grand daughter to Moses
-
Thanks for your further reply.
Oh I see its very sad when you find out what happened to ancestors at times isnt it.
Do you have the tree further back than those on the Weald one? I think Ive added a few extra bits of information to some of them on my notes on the Boarer lines on there but like a lot of other ones I have yet to construct the trees.
Im interested if anyone wants to send me their lines on Boarer and variants and I do not publish them on the net only try to help anyone that is researching their own respective ones. I never disclose any recent information either up to 1911 census only if relevant to a particular case.

Tabitha if you are still active on this list I would very much like to make contact. I have valuable information on another of the late James Ellis' great interests - his wife's grandfather from Australia (messages from 2003 and earlier have been found on various messageboards). If his wife is still living, it would be wonderful to be able to pass that information to her. GlenRuth
