Twins Richard William & Jane Margaret Thomas b1893 Llanbadrig. father; John Thomas born c1853 Amlwch.
I last found this family living at 'Bryn Awel', Burwen, Nr Amlwch, in 1911. At that time John Thomas was a widower living with his 17yr old twins and two further children. From death records it appears that the twins subsequently died within months of each other, aged 20.
The 1901 census had shown John married to Ellen, some 24yrs his junior, which makes me think that she was a second wife and not the twins mother. Therefore, I wonder if anyone can shed any further light on this family.

Hi
The 1901 shows John b 1853 Llanbadrig and living in Rhosybol. He was a farmer & joiner but I can't see an obvious 1891 entry to determine if he was married at that time
You will probably need to buy one of the twins birth certs to get his first wife's name and maiden name

Thanks Carole,
I think birth certificates probably are the only answer.
In common with many Welsh surnames (my own included - Jones) researching Thomas is something of a nightmare, not helped by the fact that John Thomas' children were born in several different places!
Cheers
Sheila

Whether it helps or not I don't know but the Twins births are recorded on North Wales BMD in 1893 with a mother's maiden name of Jones!
Regards
William Russell Jones.

Though the Anglesey births are seemingly shown on North Wales BMD,the Anglesey marriages are not.One of the later children an Elizabeth Ceridwen Thomas born in 1903 is showing with a mother's maiden name of Lewis.
Regards
William Russell Jones.

THOMAS Richard William, father John, mother Jane Margaret JONES, 12 Sep 1893 (twin), Llanbadrig.
The marriage was also at Llanbadrig:
John THOMAS, 39, bachelor, carpenter of Bryn Llewelyn, son of William THOMAS, farmer. Margaret Jane JONES, 24, spinster of Tyddyn Rhydderch, daughter of William JONES, flour merchant (deceased). 12 May 1892, Llanbadrig Church.

Elizabeth Ceridwen THOMAS seems to be unrelated. Birth registered:

John THOMAS remarried:
John THOMAS, 45, widower, farmer of Glyn Ifor, Rhosgoch, son of William THOMAS, farmer. Ellen HUGHES, 22, spinster of Glyn Ifor, Rhosgoch, daughter of Thomas HUGHES, farmer. 30 Nov 1898, Gosen Chapel, Llangwyllog.

Thanks to everyone for the information given, it has been of great help.
I'm now left to puzzle out how Elizabeth Ceridwen Thomas fits into the family when her mother's maiden name was Lewis! The usual two steps forward and one back!
Maybe one of you would be kind enough to find if Elizabeth's younger brother had the same mother? He is seen as John Owen Thomas born 1904, Rhosgoch, in the census.
You will perhaps gather that I'm non too familiar with this website, but am fast learning that it's members are a fountain of help and information. Sadly, my genealogy research has been interrupted by the radical, and in my opinion, retrograde changes Find My Past have decided to make to their website, which is now an absolute nightmare to use. Suggestions/recommendations re alternative websites would be most welcome.

THOMAS John Owen, father John, mother Ellen HUGHES, born 3 May 1904, Rhos-y-bol.
I'll search for more later.

John Thomas & Ellen Hughes had three other children. Their births were registered with their father's name as John Hudson Thomas:

THOMAS Elizabeth Catherine, father John Hudson, mother Ellen HUGHES, 4 Dec 1900, Rhos-y-bol
THOMAS Hannah Grace, father John Hudson, mother Ellen HUGHES, 17 Nov 1907, Burwen
Also John Thomas and Margaret Jane Jones had another child who died very young:
THOMAS Ann Grace, father John, mother Margaret Jane JONES, 1 Jan 1896, Llanbadrig.
Deaths:
THOMAS Ellen, 32, 2 Oct 1908, at Bryn Awel, Burwen, wife of carpenter John THOMAS. Informant John THOMAS, widower, same address.
THOMAS Richard William, 20, 26 Oct 1913, at Bryn Awel Burwen, Amlwch, ship's steward. Informant John H. THOMAS, father, same address.

THOMAS Ann Grace, 2 months, 4 Mar 1896, at Llanbadrig, daughter of farmer John THOMAS. Informant John THOMAS, father of Bryn Llewelyn, Llanbadrig.
I can't be certain but I may have found a marriage for Elizabeth Catherine THOMAS (b. 4 Dec 1900), namely:
THOMAS Elizabeth Catherine, 47, spinster of Pencarreg, Cemlyn, daughter of farmer John THOMAS (deceased) married WILLIAMS George Thomas, 61, widower, farmer of Pant Ifan, Rhuallt, son of Thomas WILLIAMS, farmer on 22 Jun 1948 at Rehoboth Chapel, Amlwch.
And the following seems to be the marriage of John Owen Thomas:
THOMAS John Owen, full age, bachelor, builder of 4 Ambergate Road, Grassendale, Cheshire, son of John Hudson THOMAS, builder married WILLIAMS Doris May, full age, spinster of Rock House, Llanfaelog, daughter of Herbert Wynne WILLIAMS, shopkeeper on 27 July 1939 at Llanfaelog Church.
Finally, John Thomas died in 1927:
THOMAS John, 74, 31 Jan 1927 at Bryn Awel, Burwen, Amlwch, joiner. Informant J O THOMAS, son of the same address.
