Title: Looking for grandparents Patrick Walsh and Bridget McLoughlin.
Post by: Cazz7 on Wednesday 02 April 14 08:08 BST (UK)
I am trying to help a friend find out more about her grandparents Patrick Walsh and Bridget McLoughlin from Dublin. She knows virtually nothing about them.  We know they lived with their children in Stephen St Dublin in the 1901 and 1911 censuses.  These documents say they would have been born in 1877 and 1878 in Dublin.  Have found a marriage for 2 people with same names in 1895 and she is having trouble getting the certificate because she doesn't know the church they were married in .  Any suggestions of what we could do to find the church or find out anything more about them?  Hoping someone can help us.
Thanks.

Hello,
Is this the  record you have?

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FYHF-266.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FYHF-859

They both share the same index reference so possibly it is the marriage.

You can apply for the certificate here http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx. but make sure you order the photocopy entry at 4 euros.

Thanks Heywood for your quick reply and help with where to order the certificate.  Yes that is the marriage I have.  Problem is when you fill in the marriage application form they want the church name and address and we dont know which one it is.  It has to be a Catholic church and I think as they lived in Stephen St maybe it was in that general area -South Dublin?  Also found a Patrick Walsh baptised at St Audeon, Dublin in May 1877 and this Patrick may be the one we are looking for.  His parents were a Patrick Walsh and Eliza Tyrrell.  When you said order the photocopy for 4 euros do you mean it is sent to an email address for 4 euros instead of costing 20 euros.?
Many thanks.

Hello,
you need to download the form and send it by regular mail. :(

You have the reference so you would just leave the church part blank.

Thanks Nettie.  They do look like their children.  In the 1901 and 1911 census there is a son Patrick but it gives DOB as 1893 not 1897.  No mention of a Brigid so maybe she died.  The church they were baptised in may be a clue as where Patrick and Bridget were married in 1895.  Will check it out.

Brigid Walsh born 13 Nov 1895
Glasnevin shows a burial for a 6 month old Bridget Walsh in 1896 from Stephen St.

Also re 1901 census if you zoom in on Bridgets age 23 you will see underneath that the 8 that you presume to give a birth of 1893 for Patrick is actually a 3 same as in Bridgets age.

Just had a look at the census and you are right .  Thats means the baptism at St Michael and John is the right one.
Many thanks again.
