Title: Location of GUNNON, near Altarnun
Post by: gangus on Saturday 29 March 14 11:50 GMT (UK)
Hi,
I am trying to locate anything, map and or information on the village of GUNNON.

As good as GOOGLE can be all I can find is that it is/was near ALTARNUN.
Helping out a work colleague and have just received a birth certificate for: Thomas CARTER, born 2 July 1841 @ GUNNON in the sub-district of ALTARNUN.

Hope that someone out there can provide something on this elusive location.

Regards

Glenn

have you found his parents on the 1841 census? The census in 1841 was June 6th. You could post details of parents & we'll have a look for you.

GenUKI isn't very helpful?!

The principal villages in this parish (Altarnun) are the churchtown, more properly called Penpont, Tredaule, Five Lanes, Gunnon, Treveage, West Carne, Trethyn, Treween and Trewint.

EDIT:

AHA!!!   Just found Tregunnon!
NE of Altarnun

There appears to be both a Higher Tregunnon and a Lower Tregunnon ;D
