I have acquired an old autograph book with some Art Work, profound quotes etc from about 1918/1922. They nearly all refer to a town(?) Work place(?) with the initials BP exactly where is this place? The book's owner appeared to be a Mary Fern

Hi
It's part of Toronto now:

Quite a few of my collateral ancestors lived there in 19th century.

BP - could be Baby Point:

added - I don't see a likely Mary Fern (alts) there in 1911 or 1921

Baby Point sounds good probably neighbours etc writing, drawing in book. Perhaps she married. Some of the other names are C. Low, F Mitchell, L Stewart, E.M. Mole or Hole, G Napier.
Thank you

Hi,
Could you give a bit more context? What are some of the references to BP? Does the artwork have any clues - buildings etc?

No unfortunately. One of the artists seems to be John Reid: an oriental dancer, a lady probably a flapper,re Dress etc.
Reference to Golf "Old Bill" après la guerre!!! Cartoon image drawn by N Rawson B.P. 17/10/18.
another "Array collects firewood"( Sailor stranded)
Quotes such as "be thy heart a well of love my child
flowing and free and sure
For a cistern of love, though undefiled
keep not the spirit pure"
A lot in that vain, perhaps religious?

I have acquired some more information re Mary Fern. She appears to have emigrated from Montrose in Angus, assume no family which will be why some of her Personal Effects arrived back in Scotland. She married became Mary Arrat her husband being a Golf Professional in Ontario. She was 103 years old when she died which I think was in the last 4 years.
Much of the artwork relates to an area in Montrose so think the book had been started before she left Scotland around 1918.
