Hi there
i would be very grateful if someone could look up a baptism of William Walker Lees in Harborne around 1805.
I believe this was known s Staffordshire at the time so not sure if I am coming to the right board. I am trying to find out who his parents were.
Many thanks

Hi MJB,
Although it's clear that members of the Lees family were being christened at St Peter, Harborne from at least 1780 I can see no record for William Walker Lees. The nearest approximation I have found, from two separate sources, is the christening of a William Ernest Lees, parents Frank and Susan Ellen, on 23 September 1903.

Keith

Hi Keith
Thanks for the search but do you mean 1803 not 1903 for the William Ernest find?
is there a marriage in Harborne around 1800 for a Groom Lees to a Bride Walker surname?
Might help.
Thanks
MJB

Apologies. I misread your original message.
Here is a list of Harborne Lees christenings around 1805:
Jane, 26 August 1804, parents James and Ann
James, birth 16 Feb 1806, parents John & Elizabeth
Eliza, birth 26 August 1807, parents John & Elizabeth
George, christening 17 July 1807, parents James & Ann
There is a William Lees born c.2805, Harborne, living in New Town Row, Aston, on the 1871 census but he isn't listed among the births or christenings that are availanle online.
Regards,
Keith

Hello MJB,
This very interesting to me, during research I have found a direct connection to the Walker/Lees.
I am a descendant of William Walker Lees, through John Walker Lees and further Isaac Walker Lees, who left England in 1882 and worked as a diamond setter/ jewelry store owner in Bayonne New Jersey USA. There is a very large family of Lees in New Jersey. Some of my cousins have the middle name of Walker. None of knew exactly where Isaac came from until a few years ago. I have a lot of ancestry documents up to William, but like yourself have not had a definitive find for William Walker Lees parents. I can tell you I have documents on his Family Tree and his death register. From what I have found his birth date was c 1804 in Harbourne Saffs and died Dec c 1878 in Birmingham RD. I have found a christening for a William Lees with a birth date of 10 Mar 1804 and a christening date of 8 Apr 1804. The listed christening place is Penkridge, Staffordshire England with the Father list as John and Mother Mary. Again, without the Walker middle name I am not convinced because I have found a number of other christenings for a William Lees within the early 1800's and in the Staffordshire area. It would be a pleasure to further contact with you as share documents.

Hi Rich
Many apologies for the delay in response to your message, I needed to contact Debbie Smith who I am helping with her tree.
the Lees family is not mine but hers and I just needed to check that she was ok with the contact details etc.
She is happy to exchange information and I will try to work out a way for you to see what I have to date.
Interestingly I do have your Isaac Walker Lees on the tree, emigrating to New Jersey as you say wives, Mary Jane Richards and Catherine E Hindelang?
I will delve some more and get back to you with info that we have so far.
Kind regards
Marilyn Blake
