I am looking for any information on a Hector McDonald married to a Catherine Morrison. Hector was a soldier and their son Alexander was born in Belfast, but married in Durinish, Skye in 1831 and spent the rest of his life on Skye dying in Snizort in 1880.
I cannot find any reference anywhere to a marriage of Hector McDonald and a Catherine Morrison.
Any info. appreciated.

Is it possible that Hector & Catherine were married in Ireland?
I have checked the BVRI 2 for you, for any mention of the marriage, unfortunately there is nothing listed.
No extra births or baptisms attributed to the couple either.
Sorry!

Thanks for that. As both McDonald and Morrison are Scottish names I'm a bit doubtful about them being married in Ireland, but on the other hand....! No, I couldn't find any other births either. It just seems odd that Alexander should spend all his married life at least, on Skye, if his family didn't come from there. But then again I know how unpredictable family history can be. Thanks again for your trouble,
Anne

If you haven't found your family here already, Here is the link for the 1841 census for Inverness-shire

Thanks Debbie, I have actually already found them in 1841, but I do appreciate the thought.

Hi Anne,
I too have researched Hector McDonald and Catherine Morrison and their descendants down to Hector McDonald in Avenel and Beechworth Victoria.......
Would love to share the FH with you.........Can't find them married in UK or Ireland, or the birth of Alexander either.......how did you fare?
Cheers,
Barnsie
