Title: Dublin Streets.
Post by: Richie1974 on Wednesday 19 March 14 22:53 GMT (UK)
I'm visiting Dublin in April, and would like to take some photos of locations relating to my Great Uncle.
His name was William Owen Roberts, he was a Sergeant in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers and his marriage certificate has his residence as Portland Street.
His wife was Marie Brabazon and her residence was 1 Rosemount Terrace.  They married in 1913 at St Paul RC, in the district of number 3 North City, in the union of North Dublin.

Are the above streets and church still accessible?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi

I assume Marie is the same lady who is shown age 17 in Ireland's 1911 census, still living nearby with her parents William (a farmer) Madeline and family.

I googled Rosemount Terrace, knowing there are several in Dublin and up popped a photo of No. 1.  Its at:

Hi Ritchie,

Great to hear that you will be visiting Dublin in April. As with other large cities in Europe the centre has had many social problems and undergone regenerations etc.Just to be aware that care is needed strolling around some areas.
Have a look at the Google street maps before you arrive and you can pinpoint the places you wish to film. Portland street is still there but, has had major renewal projects. There is a St Paul's church on Arran Quay...again Google to make sure it is the correct one.

According to the Marriage Certificate Marie's Father is John Brabazon, an army pensioner.

There are a lot of images of St. Paul's online !

This church is along the River Liffey (The Quays) as we call it !
