Hi,
Can anyone help with a photograph of a headstone please? Samuel Woolley age 46 buried 20 August 1818 Paddington Middlesex lived at Mount Street St George. He was an Anglican and married to Lucy Woolley (nee Oldham)
Thanks

Hi Carole
Do you know if he or his family were wealthy enough or had a social standing for a headstone to have been erected in the first place?
I know the churchyard but very few headstones remain.
Hopefully, this google street view link will work

Hello Dawn,
Yes! from what I have gathered the family were a well to do family and I am sure Samuel Woolley would have had a headstone erected. I know it is a long shot that it would still be standing but I thought it was worth asking.
Thanks again

I rang the church and when the churchyard was cleared so were the headstones, a small number were placed around the perimeter of the church though.
I've also contacted the Westminster Family HIstory Society to see if they know of any surviving transcriptions.

You're a gem thanks Carole

Hi Carole
Westminster FHS has not transcribed the surviving headstones at St Mary's.
Although the churchyard is not local, if I get the chance when the weather is a bit warmer, I'll try and see what survives.
I wouldn't be too hopeful though.
