This is the family in 1861, Brightside Bierlow
Hannah Guite 54 widow born Sheffield
Elizabeth 27 dau Sheffield
Samuel 20 Sheffield
Hannah 13 Sheffield
Joseph 11 Sheffield
I think I may have found them in 1841 in Ecclesfield
William Guite 30, Ann 30, James 10, Elizabeth 9, Thomas 7, John 5, Samuel 6 mths
but I need the 1851 to fill the gap and check if this is the same family. Samuel did give place of birth as Ecclesfield in later Census......

Thanks very much for the information Lorraine.
The 1841 family I found were at New Row, so if that family is the right one I'm trying to trace they are almost certainly connected to the ones you listed.
There's a record on the IGI of Hannah bap.1848 at Wadsley to William & Hannah so hopefully I'm on the right track.

The Guite families lived next door to one another in New Row. The first cottage was a Tollhouse. My Husband is related to Samuel Guite 6 months 1841, living at New Row was his Great Great Grandfather. His father was William Guite , his Grandfather was George and possibly James was his G.Grandfather.
