I have an interesting 1913 post card showing pupils (boys) and teachers at 'Eltham House School , Mottingham' . I live locally in Eltham but do not know where this school was . Any ideas? The post card has been sent from from someone at the school (Teacher/Headteacher?) to T K Batterbury, Burnaby House , Bedford
Many thanks

I think that you need to look for this person on the 1901 census ;)
Ignore me he was living at Park House, Court Road, Eltham

Thank you. That is very interesting . Court Road in Eltham is not far from Mottingham. It seems he must have moved to Bedford for the school . Two teachers writing to each other about their schools. Will research some more.

Thomas K Batterbury attended Eltham College at a young age, but I am fairly sure his parents could not afford the fees so he left. Not sure about the link to Bedford. He was one of my ancestors and I heard mention of him (Thomas Batterbury was an architect of some repute d 1922 I think) . My grandfather was Basil Batterbury, d. in the 1990s in Sidcup. Many Batterburys stayed around South East London, although there was a larger number in the West Country, many buried in Bathford cemetery.
