Title: 66 Grey Friars Lane Coventry.
Post by: lyn22 on Tuesday 04 March 14 01:28 GMT (UK)
I have my 2nd Great Grandparents on the Census from 1851 to 1881 living at 66 Grey Friars Lane Coventry. Can anyone see who is living there in 1891. Bridget Burke born about 1818 County Mayo and Peter born about 1814 County Mayo died 1858 Coventry. I also cannot find them in 1841 their son John born 1840 Coventry should be with them. Their second son Dominick born 1844 County Mayo. Thanks Lynette  :)

I had not seen that death I will go back and see were her children lived is Bromwich close to Coventry. Bridget is a bit of a Mystery in the 1871 Census she is listed as Bridget Cawlfield spouse Patrick Cawlfield born 1831 Ireland. Then in 1881 she is back to Bridget Burke married  with a niece Mary Burke actually her Grand daughter no Patrick on the Census. I know from her sons Naval Record she signed with her mark X so probably could not read or write. There is a marriage for a Bridget Maria Burke to Patrick Caulfield but I have never seen Maria in any of her records. I can see a death for a Bridget Caulfield born 1820 died 1887 Coventry. I hope this makes sense. Take Care Lynette  :)

Hi to all,
Many thanks to all, particularly Brummygirl, who have helped my cousin lyn22 in her/our quest for information on our Burke roots. Lyn & I are also in contact & helping each other. I never cease to marvel at the generous help given by members of the genealogical fraternity to each other.

I've been researching the Burke family of Coventry (both in England as well as our branch in Australia) for the past 45 years, by there is always extra information coming to hand, e.g. the burial records from London Road Cemetery.

In 1990 I wrote a rather amateurish family history, as I then understood it (see Dominick Burke's Descendants - Coventry, England to Australia, Donald James Burke 1990, ISBN 0 646 02340 3). The Coventry Public Library has a copy. Since then I have gleaned much more information with the assistance of some of my distant English cousins.

Happy hunting everyone,
Donald Burke.

Hello Don I am glad you saw the post about 66 Greyfriars Lane. I sent you an email with the information yesterday. Your family history book has been a wonderful thing to have I look at it nearly everyday. When I pass away I have already arranged for my Granddaughter to take over my tree on Ancestry she is the only one that has permission to change it. She will also get the well used family history book you wrote and a scrap book of the photos I am making. She is 13 years old and understands how important it is to me and she says it is a privilege  I also am amazed at the generosity of the people who have helped me and in turn try to help. Take Care Lynette  :)
