Do you know where in Kent ??
This site is useful for Marriage records from 1837 in Kent
http://extranet2.kent.gov.uk/kccextranet/sp/rois/marriagesearch.cfm
I have found all my family that married in Kent on this site. Use surname and tick Not Sure, then enter year from 1837 and increment upwards.
Make a note of the Entry, Register and Location as this will make it quicker for the Canterbury office to get a copy certificate (They are very helpful in Canterbury)

Hello ADI 1962.My great grandmother Harriet Hubbard was born approx 1836/39 Rainham Kent. I have a copy of her family living at Upchurch / Upchurch St 1841 Census. Her father was Richard Hubbard/ mother Ann.I have searched St Cath`s Index but cannot find her I thought Parish Records would help. I have a CD-ROM of Parish Records for ST MARGARET`S Rainham Kent still cant find her Was there more than one church in parish do you know? Who do I contact in Canterbury? Kindest Regards

Rainham has 4 churches
New Life Community Church (South Gillingham)
Parkwood Christian Fellowship
Rainham (Kent) Methodist Church
St Margaret's Church
and Upchurch only 1
St Mary the Virgin
There are also churches at Lower Halstow,Newington both close enough to Upchurch to be possible.
Registrar at Canterbury: telephone 0845 678 5000 ask for Marriages at Canterbury.
Do you have documentation on the marriage to ? Taylor.....where did this information come from ??

My great grandmother Harriet Hubbard who was born in Rainham Kent came to live in Liverpool I found her in 1881 Census She had married Robert Hope in 1883. On the marriage certificate it states that she is a widow . Her name then was Harriet Taylor.Dont know what her previous husband`s christian surname was.
I found this entry in Kent Registry Services.Details>
Harriet M Hubbard Year of marriage 1864
Entry Number 172
Register: 17/1
Location: Canterbury and Swale.
William Taylor 1864
Entry Number: 175
Register: 17/1
Location: Canterbury and Swale.
Could this be the marriage record ??

Victoria,
The details should all be the same for both entires, in this case the entries n umbers are different. I surpose it is always possible a mistake was made.
When I had a look I found a lot of Hubbards and Taylor getting married in the same year, but none that matched.
Probably best to speak with the registrars at Canterbury, I am sure they will check it for you.
I will do a bit more digging around, see if we can find anything on the Mr Taylor

Sorry, I had a look in the composite parish records for Rainham and Gillingham for births and marriages for around the years that you said but did not find your Hubbard or any other Hubbards. It maybe that they were methodists, used another church somewhere else or didn't baptise their children.
I also looked at census returns for 1841 Upchurch and Rainham and 1851 & 61 for Rainham but again no Hubbards.
Will have a look when I next go to Strood archives to see if they have any other sorts of baptism records and census & church records for Upchurch, but it maybe that they are not kept a Strood. This won't be till after School holidays but will keep my eye out for any possible Hubbards.
Good luck in your searching, they're out there somewhere.

Hi Victoria. This is probably not relevant to you but I have a Harriet Hubbard Clarke in our tree who was married to William Coleman, coachman, in abt. 1844 in Maidstone (found that thru Adi's fantastic Kent site!). They lived & raised their family in Aylesford (Malling District), Kent. In my research I came across these on LDS:-
HARRIET HUBBARD chr. 18 May 1794 Aylesford Kent. Father William Hubbard, Mother Mary. Married James Killick 19th January 1826 in Aylesford, Kent.
Also: HARRIET HUBBARD chr. 8th June 1788 Headcorn, Kent. Father: Francis Hubbard, Mother Mary.
As I said, they may not be relevant to you but just in case thought you might like looksee. Good luck in your research. bye J.

There are Hubbards living at HOO nr Rochester at this time.

All my Hubbards came from Upchurch and Rainham areas of Kent. I believe some of them were Watermen, living on barges ( ? bargees )

I have a document put together by Edwin Mackie Gibbs in 1856. A family tree shows Thomas Gibbs of Petham, Kent (born 1759), married Fanny, daughter of John Hubbard of Petham

Message relating to message from Brian (BADAMS). My ancestors are also Thomas Gibbs and Fanny Hubbard of Peckham, Kent, UK. My line went to New Zealand, I live in France and am researching online, so thank you for posting the information from Edwin Mackie Gibbs 1856 family tree info, the date of birth for Thomas is helpful.
