Hello peoples
Just wondering if anyone has come across the grave of Martha LUKE nee WHYATT who was alive in the 1851 census, a widow aged 41, annuitant and living at her uncles farm [John STANFORD], 48 Kneesworth with her young sons John North and Samuel LUKE [Jnr]. She was born at Harlton, Cambridgeshire c1810 and married Samuel LUKE on 13 Sept 1831 at Royston.
Trying to ascertain if she died prior to 1860. Samuel LUKE seniors grave would be a bonus also!
Am researching the mourning brooch of John North LUKE who died in 1860 aged 22.
Cheers

Can't help with graves but could be this death if she can't be found in the 1861 census.

Yes thank you and Millipede. I too found this death entry and it threw me a bit because it's 5 years out for her birth date of 1810 but not an uncommon thing in those days - lack of accuracy!
I have information stating that Martha emigrated to NZ in 1857 given by the family who donated the brooch in 1966 however I think they may have been confused because her son Samuel [same name as his father] emigrated to NZ that year and I've found no mention of a Martha LUKE emigrating at the time thus far. I have a hunch i'll be contacting descendants of the family here in NZ to try and clarify that one!
Thanks again to both of you ;o)
