Hi there, I'm trying to trace a marriage record for a James Williamson & Mary Lamont. They had several children who were all bapt. in the Portglenone 1st Pres. Church. Ellen b. 13/12/1888, Sarah b. 22.10.1891 and Mary Lamont Williamson b. 20/04/1896.
Any information on the above would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Joanne

there is a marriage Ballymena 1888 to a Margaret lamont ,I don't know if Ballymena is near ?? :-\

Hi,
Your Ballymena marriage looks a better result as Portglenone is only 8 miles away and the baptism dates are a better fit.

The above marriage took place on 12 Nov 1888 in Ballymena Registrars Office. The fathers' names were James Williamson and Robert Lamont.

Thanks people, but I have the marriages for Nancy and Margaret but can't seem to find one for MARY.
Here's the thing. I'm looking for the mother of Samuel Boyd Williamson. I have his marriage cert. which tells me his Father is James Williamson. In the 1901 census Samuel has his sister Ellen (12 yrs) with him at 5 Gorteraghy, Killoquin North, Antrim. Also in 1901 census there is a James Williamson living next door, 4 Gorteraghy, Killoquin North, Antrim (seems too much of a coincidence) with daughters Mary b. 1882 (19yrs), Sarah b. 1893 (8yrs), Jane b. 1895 (6yrs) and Martha b. 1897 (4yrs).
The Ellen Williamson I found in Portglenone 1st Pres. seems to have been born about the right time and that is where I also found Samuel's daughter Ellen b. 26/06/1892.
I have found in the Portglenone 1st Pres. records a Mary Williamson b. 13/11/1878 but mother is Nancy Lamont.
I don't know if this James Williamson is Samuel's father and if his daughters are Samuel's sisters. I can't find Martha's birth record or Jane's.

while searching for you I didn't come across a marriage for mary lamont,
do you think it's possible :-\ ???margaret ///mary are the same person
-
I maybe thought the same thing but I also thought I was being very careful when reading the record on the microfilm and writing the name down. But I wonder if the 'y' of Mary is meant to be a 'g' for an abbreviated Margaret (Marg.)

Something else to consider too - given the age of the James in Killoquin at 1901 and the age range of possible children (ie Samuel 30 down to Martha 4), he may have been married and had children to one wife, then widowed and had further children to a second wife.
Also, based again on the Killoquin 'group', assuming the death of a wife old enough to have had a child in 1896, between 1896 (birth of Martha) and 1901 (date of census) and in Ballymoney district, the civil index only has a Jeannie born 1877 died 1898, a Mary born 1878 died 1900.
Or, the 'group' may be a red herring and it be a total co-incidence that they have named some children born same years, same names. I have seen instances where 'cousins' in families have been named the same as each other and then had their own children in same/similar timeframes and used same name sequences, all of which can be very misleading.

If the same Samuel at 1911 in http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Antrim/Beardiville/Ballywatt__Leggs/130670/ then by that time, the Ellen listed is a 'daughter'.
Also, years married is given as 20, so possibly an 1891/2 marriage. A contender would be the likely 1892 marriage in Ballymena of a Samuel Williamson to a Lizzie M'Gaughey and an 1892 birth in Ballymoney district of an Ellen Williamson. Leading to a posssible reason for an Ellen 'sister' being present in 1901 and an Ellen 'daughter in '1911' of yes, in 1901 his sister was present as his daughter was at her grandmother's:
