Post by: bombergirl on Monday 24 February 14 23:25 GMT (UK)
Can anyone give me an idea how I find information about my great grandfather Thomas O'Hara. I was told he came from Cavan County  but all i have is when he was born  ( about 1870 ) and the name of his father  Patrick . I am coming to Ireland from Australia later in the year and would like to know where i can go to find any information.  Thanking you for any help you can give me .
Regards Denise.

Hi Denise, do you know what religion they may have been connected with here in Cavan? In the graveyard of Seafin Presbyterian Church there are the following headstones: (1) Erected by Margaret O'Hara, Seefin, In Loving Memory of her beloved father, William also her brother Thomas.
(2) Erected by William O'Hara in memory of his beloved wife Jane O'Hara who departed this life on the first day of January 1894, aged 71 years. Regards, Les. http://www.bailiepublications.com

Hi,
On 10 Dec 1868 a Thomas O'Hara was born to Patrick O'Hara and his wife Margaret Kerrigan. The birth was registered in Holywell which is on the Fermanagh/Cavan boundary.
