Title: Isabel Watson?
Post by: Rowana on Sunday 23 February 14 15:09 GMT (UK)
My G-G-G-Grandfather James Gove married Isabel/Isobel/Isabella (Various spellings I've found), Watson on 29th June 1799 in Benholm. I've found that James & his twin Brother John were babtised on 5th May 1776 also in Benholm.

I'm now trying to find out about Isabel. From Scotlands People I've found a possible Isabel Watson, b 27/8/1766 to Andrew Watson &  Elspit Falconer in Bervie.

I'm wondering if I've got the right Isabel, and how could I check?

Any Ideas??

(By concidence, I was also married on 29th June, and my name is James! How spooky is that?)

Hi James,
Have you tried Familysearch.org which is a free site and has been
updated.
My ancestors are the MCBAY from Benholm and MARRIED a CHRISTINA GOVE in Sunderland Co. Durham in 1864  :)

Mike

Hi Rowana

There is this submitted ancestry tree on Family Search here https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.2.1/MWJZ-TT3 which might give some clues regarding possible naming order. These children seem to correspond with OPR birth & christening entries. There may be more children that don't show here. This seems to also match what shows here http://www.geni.com/people/James-Gove/6000000002715233969

Hi Mike,
Do you know who Christina Gove's parents were?
I have a Christina in my tree, but she was born in 1853, so it's not her as she would only have been 11.

Jim

Hi Monica,
That's the Gove family right enough.
James & Isobel's 6th child Andrew was my G-G-Grandfather.
I have all the information on that file already regarding the Gove line. I'm now trying to see if I can find out any more about Isobel.

Regards
Jim

Hi Mike,
I'm related to James Gove - Isobel Watson through their 6th child Andrew Gove, b 1810.
Andrew married Mary Ann Strachan on 14 Dec 1836 in Inverbervie.
They had 11 children that I am aware of. The 3rd being another Andrew, my Great-Grandfather.

I'd love to hear what you have on the Gove line. I'll send you a PM with my contact details.

Regards
Jim
