Title: William McLure Murray & Annie Meaden - help needed!
Post by: Helen on Saturday 22 February 14 01:18 GMT (UK)
I'm looking for anyone with any links or information about these two people.  William McLure Murray was born 1899, Scotland, and died Sep ¼ 1970, Birkenhead.  His wife Annie (nee Meaden)also died Sep ¼ 1970.  I have no idea why they both died in the same time frame, I can't find any online M.I.'s, for Birkenhead.

they married in 1929 in Liverpool - www.freebmd.org.uk
St John The Baptist church , Toxteth    www.lancashirebmd.org.uk
so they must have moved over the River Mersey to Birkenhead after 1929

the death of Annie Murray in Birkenhead 1970  on freebmd states she was born around 1910
there is this birth dec qtr 1909 MEADEN Annie - Toxteth Park 8b 135     so as she also married in Toxteth - I would say this is your Annie Meaden ...you may want to look for her on 1911 census ( we are not allowed to post this census )

As stated in the last post - we are not allowed to post 1911 census - but I have had a look - thus I have seen her parents

almost certain this is the marriage of Annie Meadens parents
1907 (same church as Annies marriage in 1929) - St John The Baptist - Toxteth - Liverpool
Thomas James Meaden to Ann Jane Harding

Hello,

http://www.freebmd.org.uk. has several births to this couple for you to look at.
If you are just looking at their deaths, you will probably have to send for their death certificates. As you say, cemetery records don't seem to be online.

Regards
Heywood

Would anyone know what newspaper covers this area?  And is there a chance the obituaries may be searchable?

Just an update on this couple.  Annie Meaden did not marry William McLure Murray.  Her husband was actually William MCLEAN Murray.  Unfortunately, a lot of researchers also got this couple wrong, and a few of them have yet to change their research in their online trees.  both Williams lived in Merseyside, so there has been confusion between these 2 men in the past.

William McLean Murray was born on March 25, 1906, the son of Maria and Alexander. He married Annie Meaden on April 12, 1929, in Liverpool, Lancashire, England. They had seven children in 15 years. He died in September 1984 at the age of 78.  Annie Meaden was born on October 22, 1909

That’s good that you have sorted the puzzle.
William died in St Helens in 1984.
