Can anyone please provide me with a monumental inscription for William Robertshaw, buried at St John the Evangelist, Cullingworth (near Haworth) on June 20th 1868? Or alternatively point me in the direction of a set of transcriptions for this church (Google turns up nothing)?
Thanks!

Hi
Your from London on your Profile
If you go to a latterday saints website in the link , click on 'find us' and take it from there.

Alternatively contact Bradford Library local studies reference section and ask exactly what records they have on Cullingham MI's Burials etc. Also ask about Mr Blackburns MI's records.

See 26 Cullingworth St John in the link for Keighley 2nd bottom list half way down the page

There could be search charges .

Hi there Ollie,
Are you sure that William Robertshaw had a headstone? Not all families did.
I live in Cullingworth and am a member of the village history group. We have the transcripts of the Memorial Inscriptions that were recorded by a Mr Trolley, a gentleman who died a few years ago.
He did not record a William Robertshaw, though I have seen the entry in the parish register.
The only Robertshaw Inscriptions are:
"In loving memory of the children of Alexander & Maria Robertshaw of Stony Royd, Halifax. Jesu Merci In loving memory of Alexander Robertshaw, born January 1834, died August 1894. 'We cannot thy purpose see, But all is well that's done by Thee'.
In loving memory of Maria Robertshaw, born January 1832, died May 1887. 'I know that my Redeemer liveth'
The gravestones at the front of the churchyard are reasonably well kept and legible. However, many of those at the rear of the church are rather more inacessible. :(

Dob - thanks for the info, they seem to have MIs for seveal other places I am interested in so will get in touch. Hopefully all of these MIs will end up on FHS soon :)
Deetot - thanks very much for looking; that is disappointing news, but valuable nonetheless. I have no way of knowing if he had a headstone, I suppose he was a pauper? His mother was buried at Haworth, in 1844, but she has no remaining headstone either. William was my 3rd great uncle, and I have hit a brick wall getting past his father Jonathan. I do not know if there is a connection with the Alexander you found, perhaps a first cousin, but I will keep digging. Thanks for the lead.
