Can someone please advise if the Glossop Parish Church is Roman Catholic or Protestant ?
Whilst researching my Wyatt ancestors who lived at Glossop at least one couple was married by Christopher Howe.
The Glossop Cemetery site suggests some Wyatts were C of E whilst others were buried in the RC section.
With thanks

A Parish Church is always C of E
most villages/towns also had Catholic and Non-conformist churches but these were never the "Parish Church"

See my reply on the other thread http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=673855.msg5197288#msg5197288 (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=673855.msg5197288#msg5197288)
Christopher Howe was definitely a C of E vicar, the longest serving at Glossop (1793 - 1849).

Strictly speaking, weren't those churches that existed before the reformation both RC and parish churches? The Ancient Parish of Glossop existed well before the reformation.
