Title: clanfield look up
Post by: Phil Robbins on Saturday 08 February 14 22:08 GMT (UK)
Hi, I am looking for the birth of Hannah Edgington in Clanfield about 1775. Is there anyone who could do a look up for me. Would also like parents and any siblings if possible. Many thanks in advance
Regards
Phil.

Hi Phil,

Taken from the Clanfierld transcripts (ex Oxfordshire FHS) are these entries;
Bapt.;
5-5-1771 Hannah   EGINGTON d/o Adam & Eliza
3-7-1768 William    Edgington  s/o     "          "

Marriage;
9-9-1765 Adam Edgington & Elizabeth Kilby (x) By Licence
wits; John Edgington, Robert Hicks

Bapt;
18-1-1746 Eliz Kilby d/o ??m & Eliza  (letters are missing for father's name - it could be Wm)

I could'nt see Adams baptism.

Hi Phil,

Just to clear up there are these two burials in Clanfield;

14-5-1784 Elizabeth Edgington (36),     "Poor" against her entry.

20-1-1807 Adam Edgington (67)

Me again,

I'm not sure how far you wish to go, but in Black Bourton transcripts (ex OFHS) there is a baptism;
8-2-1740 Adam Edgington s/o William & Amy - also bapt. same day is Mary Edgington. (nothing to indicate they were twins).

Is this the father?
9-12-1716 William Edgington s/o John & Margaret + burials both for "William" -  18-10-1782  or 26-11-1792 (pauper) and Amy Edgington bur. 3-2-1774 (w/o William).

This parish is adjacent to Clanfield.

Hi Alan, many thanks for your replies. My goal at the moment is to get back into the 1600's. I do have the Black Bourton PR's so will have a look and see what I can piece together.
Again many thanks for your help.
Phil.
