Hi
I am wondering if anybody would be able to look up a birth circa 1789 in the records of All Saints Church in Epping. I am looking for a birth/christening of a Sarah How(e) and would like to know the names of her parents and any other siblings born to them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Free BMD shows a death of a Sarah Howe aged 78 in Epping in 1867; giving a birth year of c. 1789.
But I assume she wasn't born a Howe.

Hi Mark
My Sarah How married at All Saints Epping in 1813 to a John Boswell.
Marriage entry gave her name as How - spinster of Epping. All census give her place of birth as Epping. So, unfortunately the death of Sarah Howe in 1867 is not mine. Thanks for trying to help. Much appreciated.

Hi Trevor
What a mystery but thank you for your hard work. As Sarah was married in All Saints Epping, I had assumed that she would have been baptised in the same church, based on the information from census.
All her children were born in Epping but I have not found their births so, I wondered if you had time if you could check their births from 1814 onwards?? :D please. If they are not baptised in All Saints I wonder if I could be going down the path of non conformists.
Thank you.

Hi
Thanks so much for the info re Boswell children.
I had originally
John James b 1814
William b 1817
Francis 1820
James 1822
Matilda 1827
Harriet 1828 - my gt x 3 grandmother
Henry 1833
I had no evidence of a Sarah Boswell not living with parents from 1841 census onwards
So maybe she died.
It was great to see that john Boswell was shoemaker in the early 1800's - his father according to his birth was a mariner so maybe I might find some occupation records.
I don't know this area very well so maybe you might have some idea which other church near to Epping I could try for the birth of Sarah How?
However, let me thank you again for the information you have already given me.
Kind regards

I had a look round all the surrounding parishes. No sign of any Howes I'm afraid. She must have been living there at the time of her marriage but not born there? I looked at the non conformist registers too. I'm not sure how complete they are, but there was nothing there either. She's a bit elusive. The wedding record said that John Boswell was from Wapping, Middlesex. Maybe she was from there too?

However, I did find your Sarah b.1824. Sarah Ann Boswell buried 6th Feb 1825 aged 10 months in Epping.

hi both
nannyj beat me too it I did the same checks no birth s anywhere close to epping , but did find the bpt for harriett I missed and you need to make a correction as she was born either 20 26 or 28 [ can,t decipher the writing ] 1829 and bpt 15 feb 1829 sorry for missing that before , also regarding john james I checked the register 3 times around the date you give and he,s not in the all saints book either , did you take his birth from census data ? .
went through the marriage register 1754 1785 and found these 2
Samuel boon wed Elizabeth how 12 oct 1770 one of the witnesses was a john how !
and Thomas aley wed an Elizabeth how 27 april 1761
presume we have 2 families in epping .
