Looking for any information on Joseph Cantrell born May 13, 1632 at Bakewell and buried September 15, 1696 at Bakewell. He was the son of Richard Cantrell born about 1600 and Anna Houston who married 1628 in Bakewell. Looking for Joseph's wife, children, will, etc. Any information will be appreciated.
Thank You,
Debbie

He would be 48 if born 1632 when marrying 1680, quite old.
FreeREG has a unnamed Child Baptised 26 Oct 1686, St Oswalds, Ashbourne, Father JOSEPH
Abode Compton

I looked at the info on Family Search and I don't think that is the Joseph I am looking for, but he could have been married more than once.
The record of baptism 26 Oct 1686 in Ashbourne, father Joseph Abode Compton. Joseph Cantrell would have been 54 years old when this child was born. There are several variations of spelling for Cantrell but I have never seen it spelled as Compton. Does the FreeREG have a website?
I do not live in England, I live in U.S. so it makes searching in England more challenging. Why are Bakewell records so hard to find?

Hi Debbie,
It was a unnamed Cantrell Child baptised 1686, Father JOSEPH Cantrell
The abode (where they were living) was Compton.
Yes, here is the Website;
www.freeereg.org.uk
New Records are being added there all the time due to Volunteers transcribing Parish Records.
Searching from Overseas can be difficult. I am in Australia!
