Title: TICKHILL near Doncaster
Post by: mikecharles49 on Tuesday 04 February 14 11:02 GMT (UK)
Circa 1841, does anyone know the location of Swan Polston Road; Anderley Street, Tickhill Moorehouse... the latter may be near Tickhill Toll Bar.
Also, Richard Wilcox, a sawyer, was at Sunderland Street in 1851, but in 1841 his address is at "part of house with Langhton" ... where exactly?
Lastly, in 1841 Ann Wilcox ran a lodging house ... would this near near the old A1 road/Toll Bar.
Many thanks if anyone can help me.

Examination of old records indicates that none of the quoted locations is relevant to Tickhill in Yorkshire

Thank you.   Sorry, the road is Adderley.  I have discovered that Edmund Laughton leased out, to several tenants, Lindrick House in the 1830s and 1840s, so I rather suspect that this was "part of house with Laughton". Edmund himself lived at Eastfield House.
Toll Bar cottages are still there, towards the end of Sunderland Street. The other roads I mentioned must not belong to Tickhill, although Tickhill Moorehouse is an area there today.  Mike.

Hi there,
If you look at the very informative Genuki Tickhill site you can find a 19th centuary
Ordnance Survey Map.  That has Sunderland Street on it.  Also Linderick Lane. Tollbar Bridge.
It doesn't give the house numbers but the streets and farms etc.
Hope this helps.
