Title: Hi from a new member
Post by: jnnelias on Saturday 01 February 14 18:18 GMT (UK)
Hi,

I am new to this site.  I am researching family from my own perspective...
Elias - Wales (Llanystumdwy) (sp :-\ never get it right!)
McVicar - Scotland, Argyll
Johnson/Brennan - Liverpool and Ireland
Moran/Corish/Carroll/Lambert - Liverpool and Ireland

and my other half's perspective too...
Towes - Kent
Palombella - Liverpool (and eventually Italy)
Dwerryhouse - Liverpool
Allmark/Jones - Liverpool and Chester
Roberts - Liverpool

Looking forward to making some new connections.
J

Hi J, welcome to Rootschat, you will love it here, It can take a bit of time to find your way around but you'll soon sort it.
Any questions you have just post them on the relavent board and the answers will come thick and fast, don't worry to much about things cos if you make a mistake a "Mod" will move it to the right place for you.
The one thing which we have is that you cannot mention any person who is living or maybe living, apart from that it's great,
Loads of other's will be along to welcome you shortly also, Happy hunting.
Regards
Frank.

Hello J,  and welcome to Rootschat!

You might post details or what you are hoping to find with your family.  Might be most productive to concentrate on a family group at a time.   By details, full names, specific locations, birth dates, death dates, marriage dates, etc.  whatever you know and what you hope to find out.

I have Moran as well from Liverpool and Ireland before that.  Martin and Mary (Hunt) Moran.  I believe came from County Mayo around 1848-ish, before 1851 censes anyway.  Mary Hunt may have been a second wife but not sure on that point.  The family including 6 children moved to Coventry and from there to the U.S. in 1863.

Good luck with your searchings  :)

Murphy

Thanks Murphy, Frank and Wozzle,

Wozzle, yes it is Saverio's Palombellas and would appreciate any info you might be prepared to share.

Murphy, my Moran's are Joseph b1902 Liverpool,  son of Henry b1869 Liverpool, son of Martin b1818 Ireland, son of William b1795.  I'm not sure where in Ireland they are from though.

Thanks
J

Hi J,   My Martin born c1820 in Ireland.  No idea of his father's name but no children b. 1869 and in that year, would have to have been born in Massachusetts anyway.  Oh well......

But you are off to the races now in your searches.

Best of luck  ;D

Thanks guys.  I have seen MPH's website and tried to make contact a couple of times - only to say what a fantastic collection of information he has researched and collected.  He even has pics that my mother in law recognises people from! Would love to visit Molfetta one day with all the family.

Jennifer, I think it says France and that the enumerator either just assumed or couldn't understand him, or maybe his last port of call was France before England.
