Title: Thomas Batchelor Norris 1785-1844

Seeking information on origin of his middle name, father, and other relatives on his father's side.  Thomas was born in Chisledon and died in Gloucester. His mother was Martha Osman Norris.  I speculate that Thomas was born out of wedlock to a man called Batchelor.

A Thomas NORRIS was buried at St Thomas, Redwick & Northwick, Gloucestershire, on 11th August 1844, aged 59.

Hi Bob,

In the Baptism transcripts for Chiseldon (Ex Wilts FHS) there are 3 entries;
5-7-1785 Thomas Bachelor Norris s/o Martha Born 4th
16-6-1794 Elizabeth               "    d/o      "       "    5th
23-3-1800 Mary                     "      "        "       "   15th (4th Child)

I couldn't see any more of Martha's children although there are several "Norris" families having children in Chisledon.

There is only one male "Batchelor" listed amongst the baptisms and he was William bapt. 1757 s/o William & Elizabeth.

The Thomas mentioned by both Victor & warncoort appear to be the same one as listed above.
