Title: Requesting naturalization/citizenship records?
Post by: dAce on Wednesday 29 January 14 19:48 GMT (UK)
Hello all,

Has anyone here ever requested a search of Canadian citizenship or naturalization records from Library and Archives Canada/Citizenship and Immigration Canada?

I have been thinking about requesting some of my European ancestors' naturalization records (they would actually be from the card indexes since they immigrated to Canada pre-1917), but I'm interested in how long it took to receive your records. I haven't requested anything from the government before but I feel like it would take several months to receive anything.

Thanks :)

Hello
I have not requested citizenship records from LAC myself but I think some of them are on their site and searchable. Try putting your ancestors name in on the Ancestor Search and see what comes up.
If they came from countries other than the British Isles there might be something there.

If you care to post names or PM me I would be willing to give it a try.
