Just as an indication of scale, from information in my possession:-

13 Cornishes were buried in Stanningfield between 1834 and 1901.
3 Craskes were buried in Shimpling between 1878 and 1896; and 3 in Stanningfield between 1873 and 1879.

I see no marriages for either family in Stanningfield up to 1812. There were three Cornish males married in Stanningfield in the 1830s, but no female Cornishes. No Craske marriages at all in 1813-37.

No Cornish or Craske marriages in Shimpling up to 1812.

Baptisms in Shimpling up to 1812: 1 Crask.
Baptisms in Shimpling 1813-1900: 14 Crasks and 1 Craske.

Many thanks for the offers of help.I've just arrived here, what an amazingly helpful bunch of people.
My great great grandmother was Ellen Craske. Her son, born out of wedlock, was George Harry Craske.
George's father was William Cornish(he went on to marry a Pettit).I would very much like to know how William relates to the other Cornish's in Stanningfield. Any help would be greatly valued.

Hi JJ,
This is plausible,Ellen was born in 1832.
William had M. as a middle initial if that helps.
He married the girl Pettit in the nearby parish of Great Whelnetham about 1853ish.
He was at one point a gardener,I think.
Sorry to be so vague,
Regards,
William.

George CRASK married Susan MORTLOCK 30 Jul 1821 Shimpling

The couples children are listed on Familysearch.org including Ellen bpt 23 Aug 1832 Shimpling

George CRASK (77) of Shimpling Thorne buried 24 Jun 1869 Shimpling St George
Susan CRASKE (76) of Shimpling Thorne buried 6 Dec 1878 Shimpling St George

Lots of Mortlock burials Shimpling St George many listed with abode as Shimpling Thorne.

There was a John CORNISH bpt in Shimpling 17 Oct 1813 parents Edward & Mary

Yes, you are right. I recall the name from a brief bit of research I did 20 years ago and then lost. Can't thank you enough. This may be the clue to unlocking more about William.

Keziah is doing such a good job that I hesitate to join in, but:
I have found that John Cornish married Harriet Wilding on 16 Oct 1833 at Shimpling, which probably means she lived there. They would be the couple whose son William has already been found, born in 1835. It looks as if it was this John Cornish who was buried at Stanningfield on 29 April 1897, said to be 83. Harriet was probably the one who was buried there on 27 Feb 1875, said to be 63.
