Title: Francis Keenan Gunner and MGC
Post by: Martha 14 on Sunday 26 January 14 19:53 GMT (UK)
Could anyone help me trace the army records of Francis Keenan who was born in Lochee, Dundee in 1889.  He may have been in the Seaforth Highlanders from 1903 to 5.7.1915.  He was definitely a gunner in the RFA (Royal Field Artillery) and in France in Feb 1915 (I have  newspaper article which mentions him at right address) so not sure if that fits with him being in Seaforth Highlanders or if that means there was another Francis Keenan.  He seems to have transferred to the Machine Gun Corps (MGC) as he is recorded as a Lance Corporal on his son's birth certificate in 1920.  or does anyone know anything about the MGC and where Francis might have been and with what branch?
Thanks

Hi Gortonboy
Thanks for this information.  I have not been able to find Francis in the 1911 census so could you give me more details.
Thanks
