Title: World War two serviceman
Post by: Wharncliffe on Friday 24 January 14 21:25 GMT (UK)
Hi,

 Hi everyone!

I have been successful in tracing British personal from World War 1 however my father-in-law has presented me with a challenge and I have no idea where to start so I hope you can help.

My father-in-law was born during World War 2 and was adopted by a lovely couple from Surrey. His biological father was a U.S serviceman, I assume stationed in the UK.

All he knows of his father is his name, Joseph Patrick Vaglica and he is sure he was from Ohio state. I have serached Ancestry and I have only access for the UK and that's presented some possibilities however I have not got international access.

Anyhelp would be greatful, even if you can point me to the best website to view.

 Many thanks in advance

 Mark

I think I found an announcement of his wedding in 1954 in a Galesburg, Illinois newspaper.  It includes a picture.  If you'd like me to send it to you, please send me your e-mail address in a personal message.

Not sure if the picture Shelly has found would name either of the spouses above but there are Vaglica family still living at the address in Galesburg -

Thank you for your message  ;D

The marriage of Joseph P Vaglica in Cuyyahoga - 1943 - 45 confirms his first marriage and it would appear this was the right connection.
