My 2 x great grandmother was born Feb 1817 in Louth to Michael LILL (1786-1844) and Sarah CHESTER (1792-1817) I assume Sarah died in child birth.
I think Michael's parents were William LILL b 1746 Lusby, and Mary RYE b 1746 LUSBY and that they had nine other children; Ann b 1766, William Rye b 1769, George b 1771, Francis b 1774, Susanna b1776, Maria b 1778, John b 1780, John b 1783, Susannah 1789. That's all I ever have been able to find and I've been looking for years.
There's David LILL tied in here somewhere - he was a witness at William LILL's marriage to Mary RYE.
Betsey LILL marr Edward CARTWRIGHT in Louth 25 Feb 1836.
Any help much appreciated.

Hi Jan,
Source: Lincolnshire Family History Society
Michael LILL was buried at St James, Louth, Lincolnshire, 16th May 1844, aged 57.
Another Michael LILL was buried at St Helen, Willoughby with Sloothby, Lincolnshire, 22nd March 1876, aged 56 (possibly son?)

Victor Harvey, the 2nd Michael Lill you mentioned (1820-1876) was married to Ann Harrison (1814-1900). They were married in 1856. That Michael was the son of Joseph Lill (1780-1856) and Mary Riggall (1786-1874).

The Michael I am looking for was supposedly the son of William Lill (1746 - 1801 Lusby) who married Mary Rye (1746 - 1817 Lusby) on 01 Jun 1767. They had 10 children between then and 1789 and the only trace of any of them is on Family Search. I have tried Lincstothepast with no luck so far and the only sibling for Michael I have found is John Lill who was a Farmer in Willoughby, who married Elizabeth Hempstock 19 Aug 1828 in Wrawby, but there are obviously (looking at the dates anyway) at least 2 John and Elizabeths on Family Search, judging by the range of possible children - although John perhaps married 2 Elizabeths?
I really do not know where to go with this and would love some advice.

The Lincolnshire Chronicle, Fri 23 Aug 1844, carries an item that begins "To Sportsmen, E. DODSON (late LILL, Gunmaker, Upgate, Louth)......."
This links to the 1841 Census which has Michael Lill, 50, Ind with Edwin Dodson, 35 (incorrectly transcribed as 25), Gun mkr??, at Upgate, St James, Louth
The Stamford Mercury, Fri 28 Jun 1816, carries an advert about the ending of the partnership between "........BRYAN TATE and MICHAEL LILL of Louth, in the County of Lincoln, whitesmiths and gun-smiths and carried on by them under the firm of "Tate and Lill" (yes - Tate and Lill!)
