Hello,
Wondering if some kind soul might be able to do a search for the Death Certificate of Lawrence Merrotsy. Lawrence died 30 August 1905 in Angaston, Adelaide. The certificate no. is 312/111.
Mainly wanting to know the name of his wife, parents and how long he lived in Australia. I believe he came from Malta but am not sure if it was himself or his parents who actually immigrated. I have also found his surname as Marotsia. Any information would be much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Andrea

4 sons and 2 daughters with father Lawrence Merrotsy, including George Lawrence, married in South Australia between 1886 and 1915. If you are interested in the details, we can post them for you.
His widow Susannah remarried twice if you would like those details. For both marriages, her father was given as Henry, Caufield for one and Canfield for the other.

George Lawrence Merrotsy was in the Boer War. He's listed several times in list on Trove.
He also had two letters home published.

Hello,
RE: " I believe he came from Malta but am not sure if it was himself or his parents who actually immigrated. "
Were you able to establish a link to Malta ?

Hi Grant,
It's been some time since I looked at this family so I just had a quick peek to re familiarise myself!
I found that I had saved this article stating that Laurence was originally from Italy.
https://www.coasit.com.au/images/ihs/journals/IHSJ_vol07_no1_1999.pdf - page 23.
However, the Adelaide hospital admission records that records his death, states that his country of birth was Malta!
Do you have a connection to the family?
Regards,
Andrea

Hi Andrea,
Yes I believe Susanna Merrotsy (Marotsia) - 1870 - 1933 is my great-grandmother on my mothers side.
Also my mother's sister has a 6% hit for Malta on her Ancestry DNA.
