Title: Wigan and Upholland
Post by: JosiahS on Monday 13 January 14 19:29 GMT (UK)
Hello there

I would appreciate any possible assistance with the following:

Thomas Finch married Ann Mason at Wigan All Saints 1 Nov 1822.  Assuming I have the right burials they were born in 1802 (Thomas) and 1801 (Ann).  I am looking for their parentage, please.

John Leigh married Mary Taylor in Wigan All Saints 10 Dec 1792.  On their children's baptisms I believe she was marked as the base daughter of Ann Taylor - again I would appreciate a date.  I also do not have John Leigh's parentage so need assistance there too.

John Taylor married Ann Pilkington in Upholland St Thomas the Martyr 29 May 1794.  If I have the right burials he was born about 1773 - if there are any clues as to his home parish on the marriage registration that would be helpful.

James Pilkington married Elizabeth Pendlebury 27 Nov 1786 in Wigan All Saints.  According to their ages at death he was born about 1726 and she about 1734.  Again I am looking for their baptism dates and parentage.

Many thanks in advance for your help!

All the best

Ashley

Many thanks indeed for all your help.

That's great!

Still to track down Thomas Finch amd Elizabeth Pendlebury - maybe they were incomers.

Assuming age born 1802,

a few possible births/baptisms,

St Mary the Virgin Blackburn,
Born 21st March 1798, baptised 29th April 1798
Thomas Finch son of John Finch and Alice,
abode Blackburn,

St Mary the Virgin Leigh,
11th April 1807,
Thomas Finch, child of James Finch and Betty,
abode Lowton,

so nothing spot on, just either side,

Thanks for your help Radcliff and northernsearcher.

Yes you spotted my mistake in typing the date of the marriage of Elizabeth Pendlebury - it was indeed in 1763 and thank you for providing the details.

All the best
