Please can someone help me here? I have a marriage in 1772 St.Giles Cheddington, Dorset ( taken from free reg) but I can't find this church only the one in Cheddington Buckinghamshire.
Later spellings for the baptisms of this couples children are Chedington. I can only find a St.James church Chedington. Am I missing something here?

Have a look at Dorset online parish clerks, St James Chedington has a good description and some marriage records, wills etc

Thank you Shirl and Romilly
Interestingly the marriage of my ancestors appear in the Chedington files 24th May 1772 of
Dorset opc shown Shirl, but if they are from St. James then could the St.Giles' be a mistake on free reg?
I cannot find any mention of a St.Giles church in Dorset only St.James wherever I look
County Dorset
Place Cheddington
Church St Giles

Romilly The St.Giles church history is the church nr.Aylesbury Bucks
no wonder I'm confused.
Thank you both again for taking an interest.

Not too worry Romilly, I only know because I kept going back to it again and again trying to make sense of it all ::)

Hi again
On the freereg homepage you can select counties and parishes coverage, under Dorset it only shows St James Chedington so it may well be the marriage record which shows the Church name as Cheddington has been allocated incorrectly to St Giles because of the speliing.

I agree with that Shirl, obviously a mistake made here. Thanks again for your help and interest,

Hi Chooch!
I was so excited to see your post and would love to chat with you about Matthew Bartlett and Joan Munding.
I am thinking they are my 7th great-grandparents through their daughter Jane.
This is a new discovery for me and I’d love to connect. You can see my info and DNA over on WikiTree. :)

I look forward to hearing from you!

Hello Robin
I can't tell you much about Matthew and Joan other than their marriage and deaths which I presume you have. I have them having four children, Ann, William, Matthew ( Mathias), and Jane who I believe married Thomas Game in 1800. Does this gel with you?
All is still a work in progress but if you care to message me we can compare and share whatever we know.
My line comes down from Matthew (Mathias)
