Title: Village school photograh date
Post by: peterstarling on Saturday 11 January 14 16:11 GMT (UK)
Hello, I have an old school photo with no date and wondered if anyone could give me an estimate from the dress the children are wearing. There are no makings or information on the back of the photo.

Children dressed like this over a very long period.
As this is a bordered postcard indicates post WW1.
I wouldn't think any later than the 1920's.

I've got two 1922 photographs;  one of my father and his brothers wearing collars & similar suits.  The other is of my mother's older sister aged about six wearing a pinafore over her dress

I've also got a school photo dated 1928 where none of the girls are wearing pinafores over their dresses.

Just for comparison.  This photo is labelled as Joseph Lancaster School, Ealing, W London Class 7.

I know that one of the boys in the front row was born in 1910 so I am assuming this was taken in about 1922 - he left school in 1924 so it can be no later than that.
