Title: Occupation on 1871 Scottish Census reads Hanrex?
Post by: Lori Brady on Friday 10 January 14 18:47 GMT (UK)
Good Afternoon to all family tree researchers,

Does anyone know what the term HANREX would mean? It is showing on the 1871 Scottish Census as the Occupation of my Great-Grand Aunt Elizabeth Coyle living in Bathgate, W. Lothian.

Thanks Lorianne,
Canada

Are you sure it's not Hawker?

If you haven't seen the original, it might be worth checking.  Probably a mistranscription.

I will recheck to see if it should be hawker.  That was my first instinct when I saw hanrex.
Thanks for tip.

Don't see an Elizabeth in the Bathgate Mortality Records, the family appear to be all miners.

Skoosh.
